We are very proud to present this unique 1959 "Thundersnake". Someone had the idea to take the already unique 59 T-Bird and turn it into a very cool custom. You may remember this car from a few months ago. Yes we sold the car to a local gentleman who loves the car and took it to our Dallas World of Wheels Autorama in February. The car won it's class beating out a $100,000. T-Bird Custom. He trailered the car to the show and back, and has put very less than 100 miles on the car.
There is not a lot to say about this car. It is basically original in looks. The wheels make you think it may have some modifications, but just open the hood and you'll see this is not your average 59 T-Bird. This is our original ad, but the car has not changed at all. If anything, it looks better. It was professionally detailed before the Autorama show. It has only been driven once since then. We would be happy to send you additional photos if you'd like.
You will see by the door tag, that this car has been really changed at some point. It was a green car from the factory. It was a 3 speed automatic with a 352ci V-8. The original controls have been utilized for the new a/c system. There is a diagram to show proper position for a/c use. The interior is in very nice condition. Under the hood is the best part of the 59. This 4.6L DOHC engine was taken from a 2001 SVT Mustang Cobra. These engines were rated at 320mph in 2001. We have no history of the work done on this car, so we have to assume it is about the same.
The undercarriage is solid and in very good condition. You can see this was not a frame off restoration. Just a nice customization of an already solid 59 T-Bird. The builder of this car went as far as having custom logos made to scale to the original Thunderbird emblems but they read Thundersnake to reflect the Cobra under the hood. Very clever application.
