This 1966 Thunderbird is a very rare car. Production numbers vary depending on where you look, but as far as I can tell, there were approximately 7000 66 Convertibles produced, of those about 700 were the Q code 428 cu in cars, and of those 700, only 74 had factory A/C. Well this one checks all the boxes and is also Emberglo which was not the most common color.

The car was restored years ago before it was purchased by our Texas owner in 2021. It is not perfect. There are some touch up spots on the paint by the top edge of the hood and in a few other spots. There is also some flaws on the hood which I show in the photos. The a/c needs a charge, the drivers power window is not working. The horn is not blowing, and the radio was removed to be sent out to be rebuilt and was never done. That will be with the car as well as other spare parts. The rear sequential tail lights are working properly, but the center light behind the Thunderbird emblem does not light up. All of these are minor issues. When you consider how rare this car is, they are minor. The car does run great and does not smoke and even though there was a little oil residue on the undercarriage, the car left no spot on the floor where it was parked. Also, the power top works very well. That in itself is a major thing, considering all the relays and hydraulics it takes to operate the top.

Here is the vin decode as well as the door tag decode.

This car came with many options. Not only does it have the power top, but it has power drivers seat, power windows, power steering, power front disc brakes, swing away steering wheel, sequential turn signals, the C6 3 speed auto transmission and more. One very important option is the tonneau cover. This one appears to have been ordered with the car. Reproduction ones not painted are running around $800.

The current owner did make some repairs when he took delivery of the car and there are notebooks with all receipts from the previous owner as well as the more recent work.

This is a very rare car and it's ready to be driven and enjoyed. With a small investment to take care of the few minor items that need repair, you have a car worth even more.
