This 1955 Chevrolet V8 Bel Air Sport Coupe was built by and purchased from, noted Dallas, Texas Tri-Five expert Mr. Marvin Johnson. From the beautiful two-tone combination of Gypsy Red & Shoreline Beige to the correct interior upholstery, this is a beautiful car. This car was completely taken apart and restored. The soft rubber components were replaced throughout. The chrome work is outstanding front to back.
This engine combination has less than 500 miles logged. This 350 4-bolt block features a stroker crank & performance high lift roller camshaft. Induction duties are handled via an Edelbrock 650 cfm carburetor atop a Pro Comp aluminum intake. The engine compartment is nicely detailed, complete with an updated power brake booster/master combination, power steering, and air conditioning system.
The interior showcases stunning & correct Red & Beige upholstery. The dash and bright work are in beautiful shape. The correct steering wheel is in place along with the classic factory instrumentation, clock, and an updated AM/FM bowtie stereo. The headliner, door panels, carpeting, and seals are all in great shape. This car was completely gutted and restored. The polished headliner bows are striking. Note the alignment of the doors.
Closer inspection of the paint will reveal a few minor imperfections. There are a couple of chips close to where the trunk lip meets the body on the right side edge and a few other minor chips. This car is hard to pick on, it is extremely nice. These are 2 very minor flaws in the paint on the front driver's side fender. They are very tiny. As well as the American Racing Wheels, the 55 comes with a set of original factory wheels and hub caps. The undercarriage further reiterates the restored condition of this '55 Chevy. The suspension was rebuilt front to back, fuel tank replaced, and frame refinished. The bushings have been replaced throughout.
This is a quality done '55 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe with plenty of power & highway readiness. This car will do well at any show and is a great candidate for highway events such as the Hot Rod Power Tour thanks to its reliable drive train & ability to sustain high speeds.
