Garrett Classics is proud to showcase "Audrey", a garage-kept & maintained Texas Studebaker Avanti R1 owned by a friend & client of ours. He has owned this car approximately 10 years. It has had one repaint and new tires installed in Dec. of 2016. Also recently replaced were the fuel pump and filter, purchased at Studebaker International. This car is powered by its original un-rebuilt 289 4bbl. V8 & automatic transmission.
The Studebaker Avanti is a personal luxury coupe manufactured and marketed by Studebaker Corporation between June 1962 and December 1963. The automaker marketed the Avanti as "America's Only 4 Passenger High-Performance Personal Car." Described as "one of the more significant milestones of the postwar industry", the car offered combined safety and high-speed performance. The Avanti broke 29 records at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
The exterior paint and body show exceptionally well throughout this no-hit 1963 Studebaker Avanti R1 Coupe.
The interior is original throughout and in very good condition. Under the hood is the original unrestored 289 4bbl. V8, factory rated at 240 horsepower. The engine has some seepage and the transmission as well. The current owner has not done any major overhauls. Audrey is one of the most original R-1 Avantis in Texas. Any parts that were replaced on her were purchased through Studebaker International or were NOS parts.
The original VIN tag is on the frame.
The undercarriage appears to be solid throughout. Structurally the Avanti is very solid.
